Collection of Personal Information By Us

Our main purpose for collecting personal information is to maintain our client database, to update our records and to circulate current information and details of events of interest. 

We will only collect personal information from you that is necessary for one or more of our functions and activities.  We will only collect personal information from you by lawful and fair means, without being unreasonably intrusive, such as when you complete a client membership form. The sort of information we collect includes such things as your name, email, financial interests, and in some instance, your financial details. 

At or before the time we collect personal information from you we will take reasonable steps to inform you why we are collecting that personal information, who else we might disclose that personal information to and what will happen if you do not provide personal information to us.

Failure to provide full and complete information we request may mean that we are unable to provide services to you fully and properly.

How Your Personal Information Will Be Used

We will only use your personal information for the main purpose we told you it was needed for, except where you consent to us using that personal information for another purpose, where the other purpose is related to the main purpose and you would reasonably expect us to use the personal information for that other purpose, or where it is permitted or required by law, or we reasonably believe it is necessary on health or public safety grounds to use the personal information for another purpose.

In order to fulfil the purposes set out above we may provide access to your personal information to third parties with whom we have a business relationship, for example, those who maintain and update our database, which assist with mail outs and various external service providers including our Auditors.  You accept that not all recipients of your information may have privacy policies equivalent to Money Detective and you consent to the disclosure of your personal information for those purposes.

In relation to direct marketing, where practicable we will seek your consent before we use your personal information for this purpose.  You may tell us at any time you do not wish to receive any further direct marketing materials, if you do, we will stop sending you such materials.

Can You Access Your Personal Information

If you ask, we will tell you about personal information we hold about you, and what we do with it.  We will facilitate access to you by allowing an inspection of your personal information, or by providing copies or a summary of relevant information, depending on what is most appropriate in the circumstances, following receipt of your request.  Before we act on your request we will give you an estimate of how much this service will cost and ask you to agree before proceeding.

We may not always be able to give you access to all the personal information we have about you but will advise you of our reasons for doing so.  For instance, we may not be able to give you access to information that would reveal personal information about another person, would reveal a commercially sensitive decision making process, we are prevented by law from providing to you or relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings.

Is My Personal Information Secure?

Yes, we will make every effort to ensure your security; integrity and privacy are secure and destroy or permanently de-identify personal information we no longer need.  We will endeavour to have up to date firewalls and secure databases to keep personal information safe from misuse, loss, unauthorised use and disclosure although nobody can guarantee total security for data transmitted over the internet.

Any information posted on bulletin boards or communicated in forums becomes public information by its nature.  While we strive to protect and respect your privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose in these areas.

What Else Should I Know About Internet Privacy?

When you are a member, remember to close your browser / log out when you have finished your user session.  This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or internet café.  You as an individual are responsible for the security of and access to your own computer.

Complaints Resolution

We are committed to providing members, and other parties whose personal information we hold, a fair and responsible system for the handling of their complaints.

From time to time, our policies will be reviewed and may be revised.  We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time and notify you by posting an updated version of the Policy on our website.    The amended Privacy Policy will apply whether or not we have given you specific notice of any change.
